Protecting Your Privacy

Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains how the Ice Fishing mobile application (the “App”) and its companion website at https://frost0004.com handle your information. Ice Fishing (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates both the App and the website.

Ice Fishing is an offline-first ice fishing companion. Your spots, catches, and trophies live on your device — not on our servers. We do not run advertising, we do not use analytics services, and we do not build profiles about you. The sections below describe the limited data we do handle and why.

Collecting Information Automatically

We do not track your browsing habits, serve ads, or use any third-party analytics platform. We do not collect advertising identifiers, attribution data, or push notification tokens. Here is the narrow set of information the App handles automatically:

Anonymous Identifier. On first launch the App generates a random identifier that is unique to your installation. It is not connected to your name, email, or any personal account. It helps us distinguish one installation from another for basic operational purposes. This identifier is stored on your device and persists until you clear the App’s data or uninstall it.

Device Language and Region. The App reads your device’s language and region setting so it can display content in a language you understand.

Location. The App requests access to your device’s precise and approximate location so it can display weather conditions at your current coordinates and center the map when you save a new fishing spot. Your location is processed on the device for those features and is not sent to any server we operate. You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; the App will continue to work — you will just need to search or scroll the map manually.

Photos from Your Gallery. When you attach a photo to a catch or a fishing spot, the App opens your device’s photo gallery so you can select an existing image. The App does not access your camera directly and does not request camera permission. Any photo you pick is copied into the App’s private storage on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.

Storing Data on Your Device

The fishing spots you mark, the catches you log, the photos you attach, your trophy records, and your preferences (units for temperature, weight, length, pressure, and wind speed) are all kept in a local database on your device. None of this information is transmitted to a server, synced to the cloud, or backed up anywhere we can access. If you uninstall the App or clear its data, that information is permanently removed — we have no copy to restore.

Browsing Within the App

The App includes a built-in browser used to display this Privacy Policy and the Support page directly within the App. The built-in browser supports cookies (including third-party cookies) and local storage for the pages it loads. These are standard browser mechanisms — the App itself does not store or read them. You can clear any cookies or local storage set by pages in the built-in browser by clearing the App’s data in your device settings. Websites loaded through the built-in browser operate under their own privacy practices.

Submitting Support Requests

The App’s Support page lets you send us a message or report a bug. When you submit a support request, you may provide:

  • Your name and email address
  • A description of your question or the issue you encountered
  • An optional file attachment — you can take a photo or video using your device’s camera, or choose an existing screenshot, image, or document through your device’s file picker

This information is sent only when you choose to submit it. We use it solely to respond to your inquiry and resolve the reported issue. The App itself does not access your camera directly — photo and video capture is handled entirely by your device’s built-in camera app. We do not use support messages for marketing and do not share them with third parties. Messages are kept only as long as needed to resolve your request.

Sharing with Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not share data with advertisers, analytics providers, or data brokers. The only information that ever leaves your device to reach us is a support message, and only when you choose to send one. We do not use any third-party services that collect data through the App — there is no advertising network, no attribution service, no analytics platform, and no push notification provider.

Keeping Your Data Safe

All network communication between the App and our servers uses HTTPS, which encrypts your data in transit. Since the App stores your fishing data locally and does not transmit it, the primary protection is the security of your own device. We recommend keeping your device’s operating system up to date and using a screen lock.

Support messages are transmitted over HTTPS and handled with care on our end. We delete them once they are no longer needed.

Retaining Information

Your anonymous identifier and preferences remain on your device for as long as the App is installed. You can reset them at any time by clearing the App’s data or uninstalling the App. Cookies and local storage set by pages in the built-in browser follow standard expiration rules and can be cleared alongside other App data. Support messages are retained only until your request is resolved, then deleted.

Exercising Your Choices

Because the App is offline-first and does not require an account, your privacy controls are straightforward:

  • Deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings
  • Clear all App data — including the anonymous identifier, saved spots, catch log, photos, and cookies from the built-in browser — through your device’s App info screen
  • Uninstall the App to remove everything at once
  • If you have submitted a support message and want it deleted, email us at [email protected]

Regarding Children

Ice Fishing is designed for anglers and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information through a support request, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.

Updating This Policy

If we change how the App handles your data, we will update this policy and revise the “Last Updated” date at the top. Significant changes will also be communicated within the App. Your continued use of the App after a revision means you accept the updated policy.
